Development of mathematical methods for integration of renewable generation sources and energy storages into modern power systems

Project Lead: Aleksei Zhukov

The project aims to develop a mathematical method for the efficient management of energy storage in electric power systems with wind farms. To achieve this goal, mathematical models based on decision tree ensembles for short-term forecasting of power system load and wind farms generation, as well as a mathematical model of electric energy storage based on Volterra integral equations, have been developed. The effectiveness of the proposed models is confirmed by test calculations on open real data. The results are presented in three publications in peer-reviewed journals and tested at international conferences. An author’s certificate was obtained for a software and computer complex for the efficient management of energy storage based on the Volterra equations. Source codes are published in the public domain.
