The 5th conference on Analysis of Images, Social Networks, and Texts – AIST was held at the Palladium business centre, Yekaterinburg, Russia from Thursday, 7th through Saturday, 9th of April 2016. The conference is intended for computer scientists and practitioners whose research interests involve Internet mathematics and other related fields of data science.
AIST conferences proved to be a great meeting place and exchange of scientists, which students PhD could learn and listen to excellent talk of professors. There are: applications of data mining and machine learning techniques to various problem domains: image processing, analysis of social networks, and natural language processing.
In AIST has four topics: general topics of data analysis, natural language processing, graphs and complex data structures, analysis of images and video.
We have attended on topics with presentations, poster and talks: «On road defects detection and classification», «Towards Automatic Anthropometry using 2D Images» and «Random Forest Based Approach for Concept-Drift Handling». Our topic was interested by scientists and participants in AIST conference. We got questions about data collection and complexity of Graph cuts method for image segmentation. Beside they want us to make our own pavement road dataset into open dataset to help everybody can use them. In business section of AIST conference we met an engineer, who is working for 2GIS company. We discussed about our project and 2GIS application. He listened and asked us to send him our papers.
After 10 days of conference and practice to work seriously in institute of Mathematics and Mechanics N.N. Krasovskii with help from professor Michael Khachay. We came back to Irkutsk with nice memories about Yekaterinburg and scientists we met in AIST conference.
